Edwardsburg, Vicksburg dominate All-Wolverine team

Co-champions Edwardsburg and Vicksburg dominated the All-Wolverine Conference baseball team.

The Eddies placed three players on the first team, while the Bulldogs had two first-team selections.

A.J. Gaideski of Edwardsburg and Brian Deal of Vicksburg shared Coach of the Year honors.

First team picks for the Eddies were Chris Griffin, Devin Pulling and Joe Raab.

Dowagiac’s Brenden Dudley was a second-team selection.

Dudley hit a team-high .347 with four doubles and 16 RBIs.

On the mound, Dudley was 3-6 in 11 starts with an ERA of 2.98. He struck out 46 and walked 24.

“Brenden Dudley earned second team this year after having an amazing sophomore year,” said Dowagiac coach Dan Schuchardt. Teams this season during his junior season threw him a steady diet of off speed pitches, never giving him good pitches to hit. He learned a piece of the game that not many players get to experience until their senior season, so with this being said, I think it sets him up for a big senior year next year making adjustments to improve his game.

“Pitching wise he also was successful in earning all-district honor as well.”
