Nick Saltzman is a junior on the Dowagiac golf team.

 

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

NS: Having played varsity golf two years in a row.

 

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

NS: Placing last in a conference golf tournament.

What has been a hardship in your life?

NS: Freshman year, only playing in two matches.

 

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

NS: My dad. He has always pushed me to golf better and keep practicing.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

NS: The first tee box.

 

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

NS: Topping the ball in a group of all seniors that is playing the No. 1 spot.

 

How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?

NS: Go out golfing with friends, family and play nine holes.

 

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

NS: Baseball.

 

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

NS: It helps you meet new people.

 

How would you give away $50,000?

NS: I would give all of it to a Great Lakes clean up organization.

 

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

NS: Golf.

 

If I did not play sports, I would…?

NS: Most likely have more time for homework.

 

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

NS: It is a tie from the drive off the tee box and putting on the green.

 

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

NS: Grounding the club in a hazard.

 

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

NS: Having random people say that I have a good shot.

 

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

NS: Hitting out of a tough spot or lie well. It was the only way to get out.

 

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

NS: A fellow golfer played one of his best rounds of golf.

 

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

NS: Golf, it is something fun to do in the summer.
