Barbara J. Probst, 85, of Battle Creek, died Monday, April 3, 2017, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.

Barbara was born Nov. 20, 1931, in Battle Creek, to Clyde and Mabel (Hoffman) Walker.

Barbara was a 1950 graduate of Nashville High School.

Barbara married Wilbur Probst in 1955, and they resided in Dowagiac until his death in 1999.

Barb was an Avon lady for many years. She loved kids and babysat many kids through the years, and was also a homemaker.

She was a member of Missionary Baptist Church in Dowagiac from 1980 until 2011, when she could no longer attend due to medical reasons. She enjoyed her church family and activities.

Barbara also enjoyed listening to old country music, dancing, picking and canning fruit, attending fairs and taking walks. Most of all, she loved playing bingo.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (David) Melton of Dowagiac; sons Floyd Probst of Paw Paw and Darrell (Becky) Probst of Marysville, Washington; four grandchildren, Valerie (Steve) Trent, Joshua (Brandi Wright) Melton, Cody (Hailey) Probst and Kyle Probst; three great-grandchildren, Kinsley Probst and Austin and Dylan Trent; and a sister, Gladys Walters of Battle Creek.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Wilbur Probst.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2017, at Bachman Hebble Funeral Home, 223 N. Bedford Road, Battle Creek. Funeral services will be hosted at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Graveside committal will be hosted at 2:30 p.m. in Plum Grove Cemetery in Porter Township.
