Tiana Wares is a junior on the Dowagiac softball team.

 

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

TW: Being able to call myself a Chieftain.

 

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

TW: Not being able to have the money for the right equipment and to help me improve.

 

What has been a hardship in your life?

TW: Being my own backbone and being the only one who believes in me.

 

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

TW: My Nana, because she’s always there when I need her.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

TW: When we are losing and it’s up to me to get some runs.

 

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

TW: Striking out because you are too eager to hit the ball.

How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?

TW: Get a gym membership.

 

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

TW: Basketball.

 

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

TW: Because you can be someone that someone else looks up to

How would you give away $50,000?

TW: To my mom and my Nana. Struggling has been a huge part of my whole life.

 

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

TW: Probably Alabama.

 

If I did not play sports, I would…?

TW: Have a job.

 

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

TW: Not to get upset after a bad play.

 

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

TW: Designs on the helmet.

 

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

TW: “You can really go somewhere.”

 

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

TW: Accept the fact that nobody is really down for you when you hit rock bottom. Yes, I’m glad.

 

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

TW: Believe their own lie.

 

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

TW: Sleeping because I can get away from reality.
