Paw Paw hands Dowagiac 51-40 setback

Visiting Paw Paw held Dowagiac to 19 second half points in a 51-40 Wolverine Conference non-divisional boys basketball game Friday night.
The Chieftains (7-11) struggled offensively throughout the contest, scoring just 21 points in the opening 16 minutes of play.
The Redskins (16-3) turned a 10-9 first quarter advantage into a 29-21 halftime lead.
Paw Paw outscored Dowagiac 10-4 in the third to open up a 39-25 advantage heading into the final quarter.
D.J. Lanier scored 14 points to lead Dowagiac, which also got nine points from Jamin Hunt.
Paw Paw’s Jai Johnson led all scorers with 15 points. Luke Tolliver added 14.
The Chieftains will host Otsego at 7:15 Tuesday night.
