Roundup: Wrestling teams enjoy success

DEFIANCE, Ohio — The Niles wrestling team finished overall at the Tri-State Border War at Defiance High School.

The two-day tournament was won by Findley (Ohio) with 194 points. Host Defiance was runner-up with 193 points, while Niles was third with 170 points.

Dowagiac finished 20th with 48 points.

Andrew Flick (120) and Mitchell Findeisen (145) were individual champions for the Vikings.

Brenden Hall was third at 138-pounds, while Cade Stevenson (126) and Cody Flick (220) were fourth.

Gage Williams of Dowagiac was fourth 132 and Kody Walker fifth at 113.

The Niles B team captured the Berrien Springs Invitational with 169 points.

Host Berrien Springs was second with 142 and Cassopolis fifth with 76 points.

Winning championships for the Vikings were Austin Reid at 130 and Cole Simpson at 145.

Cassopolis’ champions came at 135 and 140 pounds respectively with Zach Wilkins and Dylan Green.
