Brandywine, Cassopolis boys basketball teams remain undefeated

The Brandywine boys basketball team remained undefeated with a 77-55 non-conference win over visiting Eau Claire Tuesday night.

The Bobcats (5-0) outscored the Beavers (1-4) 25-12 in the second quarter to take a command 44-25 halftime lead.

Brandywine did not let its foot off the gas in the second half, scoring 34 points while holding Eau Claire to 20 points.

Hunter Slaughter led Brandywine with 20 points. Vinny Peel added 18 points and Brady Duval 11.

The Bobcats hit 11 3-pointers, including four by Slaughter and three by Duval.

Dorrian Thomas scored a game-high 23 points for the Beavers.

Brandywine returns to the court Jan. 6 when it travels to Berrien Springs.

Cassopolis at Decatur

DECATUR — A 27-point second quarter helped visiting Cassopolis remain undefeated Tuesday night.

The Rangers (3-0) outscored Decatur 27-13 to open up a 37-26 halftime advantage en route to an 83-45 victory over the Raiders.

Decatur led 13-10 after one quarter, but the offensive explosion by Cassopolis in the second quarter turned the game in the Rangers’ favor.

Cassopolis scored 46 points in the second half to pull away to the easy win.

Tyrese Hunt-Thompson led a trio of Rangers in double figures with a game-high 19 points.

Shane Los finished with 17 points and Xander Smith added 14.

Decatur (2-3) got 14 points from Erik Morales.

The Rangers are back in action Dec. 30 when it travels to Benton Harbor to take on the Tigers.
