Brentwood Assisted Living in Niles is partnering with The Salvation Army to make the holidays brighter for local families this year.
During November, the community is invited join the residents, families and staff of Brentwood in donating nonperishable food items to help restock the Salvation Army’s Food Pantry in Niles.
The food pantry is low on supplies after recently distributing food to 13 struggling families on a single day, according to Jan Nowak, director of caring services of the Salvation Army.
Food and cash donations may be dropped off at Brentwood ‘s front desk through Thursday, Dec. 15.
In addition, Brentwood is seeking to collect 80 Christmas gifts for children through the Angel Tree program.
“This is an excellent opportunity for a family, social or church group, or civic organization to come together and sponsor a gift for a local child,” Caryn Adler, activity director at Brentwood, said in a release. “Our residents, their families and our staff are always looking for ways to give back to our community.”
Angel Tree tags may be picked up at Brentwood through Wednesday, Dec. 14. New, unwrapped toys should be dropped off at Brentwood by Dec. 15 to ensure timely delivery to the recipient.
Brentwood is located at 1147 S. Third St., south of downtown Niles.
