Lane Francis is a sophomore on the Cassopolis soccer team.

 

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

LF: Starting in a district championship game my freshman year.

 

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

LF: Losing second game of districts this year.

 

What has been a hardship in your life?

LF: Juggling work, school, family and sports.

 

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

LF: My mom. Because she is always there for me and is the hardest worker I know.

 

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

LF: The first couple of minutes of a game.

 

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

LF: I tried to clear the ball out, but whiffed and the other team scored.

 

How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?

LF: I lift weights four times a week and run sprints.

 

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

LF: I would play football.

 

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

LF: They teach you values that you need as you get older.

 

How would you give away $50,000?

LF: To underprivileged kids around the world who want to play soccer.

 

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

LF: There is a Cassopolis U12 indoor team that I would like to coach.

 

If I did not play sports, I would…?

LF: Be depressed and I have less friends.

 

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

LF: Conditioning and playing non-stop for 80 minutes.

 

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

LF: That your foot can come up on a throw-in.

 

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

LF: A coach from another team said he admired how I never give up on a play.

 

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

LF: When New Buffalo beat LMC. I was very impressed.

 

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

LF: Playing FIFA and watching pro soccer.
