Strefling returns to Buchanan line up

The Buchanan volleyball team welcomed back all-stater Franki Strefling Wednesday night.
The senior, who has committed to Eastern Michigan University, had 19 kills, seven digs, two blocks and an ace in helping the Bucks sweep Lakeshore 25-18, 25-16, 25-20 to advance to the Class B district finals at Lakeshore High School against Coloma Thursday night.
The winner advances to the Coloma regional.
Strefling has missed seven weeks after suffering a high ankle sprain during a tournament.
The No. 5-ranked Bucks (45-6) also got a big lift from Liz Kuntz, who finished the match with 10 blocks, seven kills and an ace. Britta Mollberg had 33 assists, 17 digs, three kills and three blocks for Buchanan.

Class C at Watervliet
Host Watervliet and Brandywine went to war for four sets during the Class C semifinals Wednesday night.
The Panthers and Bobcats split sets with neither team able to dominate the other until the fifth and deciding set.
That is when Watervliet raced out to a 9-0 lead and went on to win 15-7 to advance to the championship match against Bridgman Thursday night.
The Bees swept Cassopolis 25-21, 25-14 and 25-19.
The winner advances to the Lawton regional.

Class B at Vicksburg
Edwardsburg moved one step closer to winning its first district championship since 2007 with a 3-0 win over Three Rivers Wednesday night.
The Eddies defeated their Wolverine Conference rival Wildcats 25-16, 25-9 and 25-17.
Edwardsburg faced the host Bulldogs in the championship match with the winner advancing to the Coloma regional.
Audrey Bellina led the Eddies with 16 kills, while Brayden Curtis had seven kills. Skye Leach and Megan Lee both finished with six kills for Edwardsburg, which got 36 assists and 10 digs from Claire Alby.
Emma Nelson and Natalie Longo finished with 19 and 16 digs respectively.
