DECATUR — Junior Brandon Anderson did a little bit of everything for Cassopolis in the Rangers 48-14 Division 7 pre-district win over Bridgman Friday night.

Anderson rushed for 105 yards and scored on runs of 51- and 5-yards. Anderson also caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Shane Los and was 7-of-7 on extra points.

“He is a special kid,” said Cassopolis coach Dan Purlee about Anderson. “He has great speed. He can make things happen. He ran the ball exceptionally well tonight. He dropped a few balls he should have had, but we know he will catch those in the future.”

Los also had a big night for Cassopolis (9-1) as he was 7-of-11 for 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns. His other touchdown pass was to Micah Welch for nine yards.

Los also scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak.

The Rangers rushed for 325 yards against the Bees (6-4), who managed just 237 yards of total offense.

Purlee said that he will always be more comfortable running the football, but with this team, the passing game is an added dimension.

“This is probably as comfortable as I have ever been throwing the ball,” he said.

Bridgman played without standout running back Julian Sheriff and quarterback Ryan Chang, both of whom were lost to injuries.

The Bees’ Klayton Hobson was 17-of-28 for 124 yards, a touchdown and a trio of interceptions.

Pedro Hernandez rushed for 118 yards on 20 carries and scored on a 15-yard run.

Defensively, the Rangers were led by KyJuan Lanier and Parsons with six tackles each. Welch had five tackles and an interception. Aaron Majewski and Dylan Green also had five tackles, while Hunt-Thompson added an interception.

Cassopolis also got an interception from Nathan Goins.

“We had some opportunities to make some plays with interceptions and ended up dropping the ball,” Purlee said. “We have got some things we need to clean up.”

Cassopolis will host Gobles, a 50-12 winner over Lawton, in the Division 7 district championship at Decatur High School at 7 p.m. Friday.
