Roundup: Dowagiac, Cass, Eddies all pick up victories

PAW PAW — Caleb Murphy caught five passes for 109 yards and a touchdown as visiting Dowagiac defeated Paw Paw 22-7 to earn an automatic playoff berth Friday night.

It is the second consecutive year the Chieftains (6-3) have advanced to the playoffs. Dowagiac needed to win its final four games to earn a spot in the postseason.

Dudley was 11-of-13 for 156 yards and the touchdown.

Eric Walker rushed for 107 yards on 11 carries, including a 70-yard scamper. Shawn Sirk added 50 yards on three carries, while Murphy also had a rushing touchdown.

The Chieftains finished the night with 342 yards of total offense, including 186 on the ground.

Meanwhile, Dowagiac held the Redskins to just 175 yards of total offense.

Collin Hassle led the charge with e16 tackles, while Collin Dussel had seven tackles, including a pair of sacks.

The Chieftains found out Sunday night who and where they would be in the opening round of the MHSAA playoffs.

Cassopolis 55, Comstock 13

COMSTOCK — The visiting Cassopolis Rangers outscored Comstock 28-7 in the first half en route to a 55-13 BCS Athletic Conference victory Friday night.

The Rangers (8-1) got a pair of touchdown passes from Shane Lose, who was 11-of-16 for 107 yards.

Los threw touchdowns to Micha Welch and Brandon Anderson, who also had 158 yards rushing on nine carries and a toucheown.

Tyrese Hunt-Thompson finished with 93 yards on the ground and three touchdowns.

The Rangers, who are expected to have received a first round home game when the playoff pairings were announced Sunday night, will play any of those games at Niles due to field construction at William F. Scott Field.

Edwardsburg 57, Sturgis 0

STURGIS — Visiting Edwardsburg put the finishing touches on its second consecutive undefeated season and another Wolverine Conference championship with a 57-0 victory over Sturgis Friday night.

The Eddies have been undefeated in three of the last four seasons. Edwardsburg outscored its opponents 391-20 this season.

Friday night against the Trojans, the Eddies rushed for 340 yards led by Nick Bradley who has 126 yards on six carries and a touchdown.

Kyle Shrider had a pair of touchdowns as he scored on runs of 7- and 1-yard.

Also scoring for the Eddies were Cameron Ekanayake (6-yards), Joey Hess (1-yard), Devin Pulling (28-yards), Austin Cline (24-yards) and Landen Cebra (3-yards).

Edwardsburg, which will host a first round playoff game, held Sturgis to 60 yards of total offense.
