Micha Welch is a senior on the Cassopolis football team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
MW: Winning our schools first district championship.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
MW: Losing the regional championship the same year.
What has been a hardship in your life?
MW: Losing my grandfather
Who is a “hero” in your life and why
MW: My brother Steven Eleazer because he’s taught me a lot I know today. I feel like I can come to him for anything. That’s why he’s my hero.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
MW: The beginning of the game, just thinking of everything in my head just makes me nervous not knowing how I’m going to do.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
MW: Giving up a touchdown for the district championship.
How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?
MW: Run, push ups, sit ups.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
MW:Basketball.
Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?
MW: To communicate with others that you haven’t before. To stay in good shape and something to occupy yourself and stay out of trouble.
How would you give away $50,000?
MW: To women who have breast cancer
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
MW: The New Orlean Saints.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
MW: Be an athletic trainer and continue getting my education.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
MW: To come up fast and try to break down.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
MW: The rule I would change is if you get called for pass interference on the receiver the ball with go up 10 yards.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
MW: You are the best receiver out here.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
MW: Walked a mile in the dark. No, I am not glad I did it.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
MW: Bryce Saxton catching a one handed ball in the district championship.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
MW: Playing the game, because it’s just something fun to do and keeps me occupied.
