Janie Reifenberg, the branch manager of Honor Credit Union in Dowagiac, stopped by Dowagiac Middle School earlier this month to present a $2,500 check to Principal Matt Severin to help with the middle school’s Five Star afterschool program. Five Star is designed to help middle school students through a challenging part of their lives and prepare them for the future. The organization does this by offering at-risk education and support, workforce readiness, mentorship, character education and experiential learning.
Honor Credit Union has been an ongoing supporter of the program, which has had a positive impact on hundreds of middle school students at the over the past few years, Severin said. Several Five Star students were also present during the check presentation.
