Making a mess of things

Among the events hosted during Saturday’s Under the Harvest Moon Festival was the second annual youth pumpkin pie-eating contest, held outside the Beckwith Park gazebo that morning. Participants raced to eat as much of a single pie as they could within five minutes during the contest. (Pictured above) Winning first place and a universal Greater Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce gift certificate was Jonathan Springsteen (left); in second was Aidan Springsteen (center) and in third was Maurice Smith (right).
