Two injured in Howard Township crash

HOWARD TOWNSHIP — Two people were extricated from a vehicle after crashing into multiple trees in Howard Township Sunday.
According to Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr., the department responded to a personal injury crash at 3:51 p.m. after 44-year-old Decatur resident Michael Drum ran is vehicle off Barron Lake Road near White Street.
Both Drum and his passenger, Donna Brown, 51, of Niles, were injured and were extricated by fire crews.
Both were transported by ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital.
A press release from the sheriff’s department reads that alcohol may have been a factor, and seatbelts were worn.
Assisting the sheriff’s department in the crash were Pokagon Band Tribal police, Department of Natural Resources, Howard Township Fire and first responders and Southwestern Michigan Community Ambulance Service.
