There’s a new kid in town, who people will see popping up just about everywhere they find the Chamber, who is sleek, hip and to the point.

After more than 20 years, the Chamber is laying to rest “The Grand Old

City” image, as it introduces its new and vibrant logo.

“Having worked with Holt Bosse marketing consultants in St. Joseph over the past few months, a new branding campaign will be launched in coming weeks, as this sleek, new image is introduced into all of our printed materials,” said Vickie Phillipson, Chamber program director.

Kim MacGregor, Chamber president, put together a diverse group of people to work on the branding campaign.

“The difficult part of the process was determining what we wanted,” MacGregor said. “We asked ourselves, what does Dowagiac mean to the masses? Once we laid out a rough guideline, Holt Bosse’s creative team took over. They presented several images to us, which were tweaked, and tweaked again.

“While “The Grand Old City” logo is a very historic and wonderful image, Dowagiac has outgrown it, as the community continues to move forward into the 21st Century. As such, we felt the Chamber, also needed an updated, energetic logo that showed who we are, and what we offer.”

“The heart of every community is its central business district, which the new logo depicts,” Phillipson said. “Visually the three buildings are a cross between downtown storefronts, City Hall and residential. The structural color of green depicts a peaceful community, yet a community of growth and prosperity.”

While blue represents the greater Dowagiac area and its beautiful inland lakes, it also depicts trust, dependability and strength.

Selection of a new logo is just one step in the branding campaign. In coming months, the organization will also be redesigning its website and Facebook page.
