Niles, Brandywine, Buchanan offer summer lunch programs

Many schools in the area are offering a free lunch program this summer.

Children who are 18 years of age or younger and persons up to 26 who are enrolled in an educational program for the mentally or physically disabled are eligible. Each school has different locations and times where lunch will be served.

Brandywine serves lunch for their program from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday in the cafeteria at Merritt Elementary. Vegetables, fruit, milk and grain are served with every meal as part of the program.

Summer lunch programs for other schools are:

 

Niles Community Schools

June 20 to Aug. 20:

• Eastside Park, 17th & Sycamore streets

Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

• Niles District Library, 620 E. Main St.

Lunch: 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

• Niles YMCA – 905 N. Front St.

Breakfast: 9 to 9:30 a.m.

Lunch: 12 to 12:45 p.m.

 

July 5 to Aug. 19

• Oak Manor Sixth Grade Center, 1 Tyler St.

Breakfast: 9 to 9:30 a.m.

Lunch: 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

 

Buchanan Community Schools

Now through Aug. 26 (Monday through Friday):

• Buchanan High School cafeteria, 401 W. Chicago Road

Lunch: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Snack: 3:30 to 4 p.m.
