Most people know the importance of good health, but leaders in the health industry say people are often unaware of the tools and resources available to keep them on a healthy track.
Dustin Isenhoff, marketing specialist at Borgess-Lee, says informing the community of their health and health options is crucial to the good will of the people.
As a way of showcasing some of the medical resources available in Dowagiac, Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital is hosting its annual health fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, June 10, at the hospital, which is located at 420 W. High St., Dowagiac.
“I think it’s a good way to promote good health and wellness in the community,” Isenhoff said.
The event is free and no prior registration is required. Everyone is invited and there will be plenty of activities for people of all ages.
Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the 32 vendor booths provided at the fair. Information available will range from health services offered at Borgess-Lee to assisted living services in the community. Any questions people have regarding health can be asked at this time. Prizes will also be available.
In addition to health care providers, a number of attractions make the fair a family friendly event.
For example, people can check out the helicopters used by the hospital where there will be music and popcorn.
The police department will offer car seat checks for families in attendance.
“[The health fair] gives people a chance to check things out and get information in a fun setting,” Isenhoff said.
In addition, there will be two exclusive health presentations. Roy Meland, MD will discuss senior life solutions in his lecture titled “Emotional Health,” and Sri Dhatree, MD with the Borgess-Lee cardiology group will present “Women and Heart Disease.”
