Hundreds of people lined the streets of downtown Niles Monday morning to view the city’s annual Memorial Day Parade and pay tribute to the men and women who died serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Many wore clothing in the colors of red, white and blue, while others waved American flags as the star spangled floats and vehicles traveled east on Main Street toward Silverbrook Cemetery and the Veterans Memorial on the cemetery grounds.

The parade featured nearly 30 participating organizations and was organized by the American Legion Post 26 of Niles.

Following the ceremony, many people placed roses at the graves of veterans at Silverbrook Cemetery. The roses were provided free from The Flower Cart through the nonprofit Memorial Day Flowers program.
