In spite of the clear and sunny skies above, the mood on Front Street Monday was somber, as hundreds of Dowagiac residents paid their respects for the men and women who gave their lives to defend the country.
The city once again hosted the annual Dowagiac Memorial Day Parade that morning, organized by members of the Dowagiac Masonic Lodge. Among the participants in the parade were members of the local VFW, Pokagon Band, National Guard, along with several businesses and organizations. Speaking before the parade began was Bobbie Bradley, the president of the Talons Out Honor Flight program.
