Led by the band, members of the Brandywine High School Class of 2016 donned their caps and gowns and took a stroll through the hallways of Brandywine and Merritt Elementary Schools Friday.
Supt. John Jarpe said the “Cat Walk” provided a way for students to revisit their Bobcat roots, especially those who have attended school in the district since kindergarten.
“We thought it would be a good experience for the seniors and a good experience for the younger kids to see the graduates,” he said. “It was fun.”
Brandywine High School Principal Patrick Weckel said administration from the high school/middle school building came up with the idea after seeing another school do the same thing.
“Our seniors absolutely loved it,” he said. “The little kids seemed to enjoy it too. It was a great hour.”
Jarpe said he hopes it will become a tradition that students look forward to.
“Maybe kindergartners that saw it for the very first time can get to do it in 12 years,” he said.
