Makenna Hartline is a senior on the Brandywine girls basketball team.
What has been one of your greatest
accomplishments as an athlete?
MH: Making all-state.
What has been one of your biggest
disappointments as an athlete?
MH: Losing in the quarterfinals last year.
What has been a hardship in your life?
MH: Breaking my ankle.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
MH: My dad, because he always encourages me and has taught me a lot.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
MH: When I know it could possibly be my last game.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
MH: When I got a leg cramp during the regional game last year.
How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?
MH: I don’t workout by myself. (Twin sister) Kayla is always with me.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
MH: Soccer.
Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?
MH: My grandpa, because he makes it to every game and gives everyone on the team a hug.
How would you give away $50,000?
MH: I would donate to all the cancer fundraisers we do during the season.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
MH: University of Michigan men’s basketball.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
MH: Have more family time.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
MH: Posting up against girls that are bigger and taller than me.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
MH: I would change the three-second rule because I play post.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
MH: When Alyssa Bolen told me I am nicer than Kayla.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
MH: Give a speech in public speaking. Yes, now I am more comfortable speaking.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
MH: Gavin Rasler hitting a buzzer-beater to go into overtime.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
MH: Playing sports, because I like staying active.
