Trojans defeat Chieftains 59-17

STURGIS — Host Sturgis outscored winless Dowagiac 25-4 in the first quarter and never looked back in beating the Chieftains 59-17 in Wolverine Conference South Division girls basketball Friday night.

The Trojans (9-4, 8-2 South) shutout the Chieftains in the second quarter to increase their lead to 39-4 at the half.

Dowagiac (0-12, 0-8 South) got 10 points from Taylor Hulett and three points from Taylor Pye.

Kayla Thornton led Sturgis with a game-high 13 points.
