COA going strong until the holidays

The Cass County COA has planned a number of activities for this week at its two locations. Front Street Crossing is located at 227 S. Front St., in Dowagiac. The Lowe Center is located at 60525 Decatur Road, in Cassopolis.

Both locations will be closed from Dec. 24-26 for the Christmas holiday.

 

FRONT STREET

CROSSING

Monday, Dec. 21

Cardio challenge

8 to 8:45 a.m.

This low-impact, high-energy class will challenge your entire body with cardio, strength training, and balance exercises. Mat exercises are also incorporated for a well-rounded workout. Cost is $25 per month or $5 for walk-ins.

 

Vim & vigor transitions

9 to 9:45 a.m.

This class begins with a stand-up energizing aerobic workout and ends with a chair cool down and stretch. The focus is on heart health, strength, flexibility and balance. Cost is $25 per month or $5 for walk-ins.

 

S.E.A.T. (Sit, Exercise, and Tone) 

10 to 10:45 a.m.

This chair-based class is great for anyone concerned with balance and stability. The focus is on maintaining flexibility and strength. Cost is $25 per month or $5 for walk-ins.

 

Tai chi

11 a.m.

Improve your posture, strength of hips, thighs and core with this gentle mind body exercise. Good for arthritis, blood pressure and sense of well-being. Cost is $20 per month.

 

Bingo

1 p.m.

Follow the lunch hour by playing for fun and prizes. Cost is $2.25.

We all have stories to tell. Come join the group and share your tales. Discussions cover a wide variety of writing related topics.

Quilting club

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All quilters and learners are welcome to join. The group creates, teaches and shares their wares by donating them to local charities.

 

Fitness activity class

10:30 a.m.

People of all abilities can get moving and improve their fitness level with this class.

 

Mah jongg

1 to 4 p.m.

Originated in China this fascinating rummy-like game uses tiles rather than cards.

 

Yoga

5:45 to 7 p.m.

Enjoy yoga now in the evening with instructor Karen Sommers. $8 per class.

 

Tuesday, Dec. 22

Chess club

11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Chess is about strategy and thinking ahead. It has been shown to enhance cognitive ability. Club members will welcome and teach new players.

 

Pilates

12:30 to 1:15 p.m.

Learn breath control and correct alignment in this mat-based workout designed to establish core strength and stability. Only $15 per month.

 

Euchre club

1 p.m.

Euchre is one of the most popular card clubs.
