Elyse Zimmerman is a senior on the Niles girls basketball team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
EZ: Making the all-state team for basketball.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
EZ: Getting hurt and having to sit out from
playing basketball.
What has been a hardship in your life?
EZ: Moving to a new school freshman year.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
EZ: My brother Ethan. He challenges me in everything I do to become better.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
EZ: Right before the games.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
EZ: I tripped going for a ball and I slid across the court like a penguin.
How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?
EZ: I try to do everything I do in practice just on my own.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
EZ: Soccer.
Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?
EZ: My mom. She supports me with everything I do.
How would you give away $50,000?
EZ: Give it to charity.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
EZ: Golden State.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
EZ: Be a makeup artist.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
EZ: Be a leader and talking to my team.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
EZ: That you could be more physical without calling fouls.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
EZ: That I’ve become a pretty good basketball player.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
EZ: Ride the Top Thrilled Dragster front row. Yes, it was a lot of fun.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
EZ: A gymnast did an extremely hard move and stuck it.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
EZ: Doing makeup. It’s a lot of fun for me.
