Austin Taggert is a senior on the Dowagiac football team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
AT: Being first team all-conference.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
AT: Not making it to playoffs last year.
What has been a hardship in your life?
AT: Growing up without my dad.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
AT: My dad, even though he isn’t here, it’s him because I know he believes in me.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
AT: The first play of a big game.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
AT: Getting tired while running down the field.
How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?
AT: Just as I would with my team.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
AT: Probably soccer.
Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?
AT: My grandparents, because they haven’t missed one of my games since I started sports.
How would you give away $50,000?
AT: By giving it to a cancer charity.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
AT: The team I would choose would be my team, because I couldn’t ask for a better one.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
AT: Be working to help my family.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
AT: Knowing all the plays and what I have to do.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
AT: The targeting rule.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
AT: When people say that I have golden hands.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
AT: I got dared to jump into a lake during winter, and no, I still regret it.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
AT: Having my quarterback throw for the school record.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
AT: Hanging out with friends so I’m not being lazy.
