Berrien County employee subject of alleged embezzlement case

A civilian employee of the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department has been placed on administrative leave while detectives investigate an alleged embezzlement case, according to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department.
In a press release issued Thursday, Sherriff L. Paul Bailey said the investigation is into the alleged embezzlement of tether funds by a civilian employee assigned to support services.
Detectives from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office are conducting the investigation. The employee involved has been placed on administrative leave, with pay, while the investigation is conducted.
Bailey said in the press release that all Berrien County Sheriff’s Office employees are held to a high standard and a thorough investigation into these allegations will be completed to assure that any and all misconduct is dealt with accordingly.
Bailey said he is not able to make additional comments while the investigation takes place.
