Students at Justus Gage Elementary School received a rare opportunity to eat in the classroom Thursday afternoon, as the building participated in the statewide Apple Crunch Day. Students in each class were given apples, provided by local orchards, to bite into simultaneously, producing an enormous “crunch” noise. The event was sponsored by the Van Buren ISD’s Project L.E.A.N. (Linking Education Activity & Nutrition) program.
