JoAnn (Brumley) Hilliker, 71, of Niles, passed away peacefully at Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family; following a brief illness, Thursday, October 1, 2015.
JoAnn was born in Judsonia, Arkansas, Feb. 21, 1944, to the late John Albert & Gertie (Bullard) Brumley. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and attended The Christian Center in South Bend, Indiana.
She is preceded in death by her parents; John Albert & Gertie (Bullard) Brumley; her husband of 39 years, Lawrence Hilliker and son, Mathew John D. Stockton; brothers, LeRoy Brumley, Willis Brumley, Trennis Brumley, Lewis Brumley; sisters, Christine Brumley, Irene (Brumley) Wallace, Velma (Brumley) Baker, Vina (Brumley) Wallace.
JoAnn is survived by her two children; Tina (Keith) Vail, of Niles and son Doran “Chuck” (Jamie) Stockton, of Niles; sister, Frances (Brumley) (Terry) Pethick; grandchildren, Charles, Keith and Rebecca Vail, Tonya Baker, Sarah Okerbloom, Tim and Allen Weise, six great-grandchildren with two on the way.
Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in honor of JoAnn may do so to The American Cancer Society.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at Brown Funeral home at noon with a time of visitation one hour prior. Interment will take place following the service at Coulter’s Chapel Cemetery, Niles, Michigan.
