BERRIEN SPRINGS — A battle of two unbeatens came down a single play in the first quarter Friday night.
Berrien Springs’ Brennan Boone scored on a 5-yard run to give the Shamrocks a 7-0 victory over Cassopolis in BCS Athletic Conference action.
The game was delayed more than two hours by weather.
Once play resumed, The Shamrocks stopped the Rangers (3-1) twice at its own 19-yard line in the final minute of the first half.
And with the game still hanging in the balance, Berrien Springs’ Malik McIntyre dragged several Cassopolis players 13 yards on second and 11 at the Cass 23-yardline in the final minute of the contest.
Neither team was able to do much offensively thanks to good defense and wet conditions.
Berrien Springs (4-0) finished with 196 yards of total offense, while Cassopolis had 90 yards of total offense.
Cassopolis’ offense was hampered by the loss of running back Marquise Curtis, who suffered a knee injury and is scheduled for an MRI Monday.
