Police are investigating a break-in at MS Outdoors and an attempted break-in at Rise N Shine Cafe, both in Howard Township.
Lt. Melinda Logan, of Michigan State Police Niles Post, said both incidents are related.
Business owners discovered the break-in at MS Outdoors Monday morning.
Logan said multiple used PSE compound bows were stolen and that forced entry was used to get into the sporting goods store, which is located at 2634 Detroit Rd. (also known as M-60).
Police are still waiting for owners to submit the total dollar amount of items taken.
While police were investigating the MS Outdoors break-in they discovered that the Rise N Shine Cafe — located just a few feet away from MS Outdoors at 2616 Detroit Rd. — was the target of an attempted break-in. No entry was made into Rise N Shine.
Logan said an initial investigation has revealed that gloves and a similar method of operation were used in both incidents.
Police believe MS Outdoors was broken into sometime between 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday morning.
Anyone with information about either incident is encouraged to call Trooper Ann Poehlman at (269) 683-4411 or ask for a shift supervisor.
