A person jogging on the Indiana Michigan River Valley Trail in south Niles Township found the body of a dead man in a wheel chair Thursday afternoon, according to police.

Capt. Robert Boyce, of the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department, said the body was that of a 44-year old male whose name is not being released until next of kin can be notified.

Boyce did not know the person’s place of residence.

Boyce said an investigation revealed that the man had numerous medical issues and had a stroke.

A medical examiner and the sheriff’s department determined there was no foul play.

Boyce said the body was discovered by a person running on the trail around 3:30 p.m. just north of Stateline Road. The jogger called police.
