Benjamin Frank Winslow, 86, passed away peacefully on Aug. 28, 2015, after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Ben was born in Waterloo, Iowa on Oct. 4, 1928, to Neal and Margaret (Eicher) Winslow.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maria, their son Bradford Neal Winslow and his wife Robin, their daughter Lori and her husband David Brenner, along with two grandsons, six nieces and four nephews.

After Benjamin graduated from Waterloo High School he served in the United States Marine Corps in Guam and China, and went on to receive an education degree from Luther College. He taught junior high school math and science. He later earned a Master’s degree in vocational education at the University of Michigan. He spent the rest of his career as the Director of Career and Vocational Education Program for high school students in Berrien County Michigan.

He received an award for outstanding leadership while President of the Michigan Council of Vocational Administrators in 1976 among others. As children, he and his sister Leatrice were accomplished unicyclists performing as “The Cycling Winslows.”

He loved standing in a stream fly-fishing. He spent much time fixing pretty much anything as well as remodeling their homes. Ben and Maria spent time on long trips in their motorhome. He was a member of the Lion’s Club, served as president of his Good Sam’s RV chapter and was always of service in many ways to his various church communities. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 5 p.m. at Preston Meadow Lutheran Church in Plano, Texas.
