In the early morning hours of Aug 12, 2015, with family present at a hospice in Phoenix, cancer extinguished the earthly spirit of a great wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend to countless people in all corners or America.
Born Dorothy Ann Tilley in Guion, Arkansas, she was raised as one of nine sisters, seven of whom are surviving. Her laugh lines were well deserved, as gatherings with more than two of those sisters were known to produce deafening and often uncontrollable laughter.
Her passions were her family, her church, her crafts and her gardens. Her passion for family started more than six decades ago when she met and married Cecil ‘Bud’ Pasley. A World War II Staff Sergeant, together they raised Sandy and Douglas in the Oak Manor district of Niles.
She lent her smile and outgoing personality to the retail industry for three decades. After work and on weekends, she tended her gardens filled with roses, lilacs, gladiolas and lavender. Heavily involved in Girl Scouts and youth Christian education, she was instrumental in laying the foundation for two new churches in the Niles area.
In retirement, her and Bud settled in Mesa, Arizona while also returning to their beloved Arkansas, where crafts and craft shows became the focus of her life. Her final days saw her celebrating a 62nd wedding anniversary, her 82nd birthday, and her husband’s 90th birthday.
