BUCHANAN — A 76-year-old Niles woman accidentally drove her vehicle into the Rite Aid Pharmacy in Buchanan Wednesday morning, causing damage to the entryway of the business.
Deputy Chief Tim Ganus, of the Buchanan Police Department, said the driver of the vehicle was Annie Cashier.
Cashier told police she was attempting to pull into a parking spot at the pharmacy, located at 715 E. Front St., when her leg went numb, which prevented her from applying the brakes.
The vehicle collided with the entryway doors of the pharmacy, damaging the glass and aluminum doors and brick surrounding the doors. It happened just before 11 a.m.
Ganus said Cashier did not sustain injuries as a result of the crash, but was transported to a South Bend hospital for evaluation. No one else was injured.
The accident remains under investigation
Ganus said Rite Aid was open for business Thursday.
