Marvin ‘Moe’ Ranieri, of Edwardsburg

After a long battle with complications stemming from pancreatic cancer, Marvin N. “Moe” Ranieri, 68, of Edwardsburg, formerly of Cassopolis, died peacefully in his residence Saturday, July 11, 2015, surrounded by his family and close friends.
Moe was born Dec. 19, 1946, in Dowagiac, Michigan to John and Nina (Burroughs) Ranieri.He married M. Darlene McCully Sept. 2, 1966, in Cassopolis, Michigan. She survives. Moe was preceded in death by his parents; his brother John; and his sister Christine.
Moe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a well-known member of the community, partly from being employed locally at Community Mills, Cass Auto Supply, and Lunker’s, to name a few. Moe was all about fishing and racing. He was a 25-year member of Cass Bass Club and had been involved in building several types of racecars for many years. Moe had been a 4-H Small Engine teacher, a member of the Cass Motorcycle Club, and was also a member and song leader of the former Diamond Lake Baptist Church, and was currently the Vice President of The Friends of Cass County Parks. Upon retirement, he started Moe’s Reel Cleaning & Repair.
Moe will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of almost forty-nine years, M. Darlene “Dar” (McCully) Ranieri; three daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Scott Wyman, Giani and John Herman, Jodi and Mark Wagner; grandchildren: Kylie (fiancé Kyle Jones) Hurley, Joshua Wyman, Ashlie Herman, Corey Herman, Jaxson Wagner, Miles Wagner, Ashley Wyman, Tyler Wyman, Sara Wyman;sisters: Mary (Tom) Westgate, Gina (Mark) Wiggins; many special nieces and nephews, lifelong friends that were like family, as well as his faithful furry friends: Brady, Simon and Little Girl.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday, July 17, 2015, from 4 to 6 p.m., with the Funeral to follow at 6 p.m. at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, with Moe’s son-in-law, Scott Wyman, officiating. At Mr. Ranieri’s request, please dress casually. Mr. Ranieri’s remains will be laid to rest at a later date.
The family prefers memorial contributions be made in memory of Moe to: The Friends of Cass County Parks; and/or: to help with medical expenses, donations can be made payable to: Darlene Ranieri.
