Lakeland Health has been named to the 17th annual HealthCare’s Most Wired survey, released today by the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).
The 2015 Most Wired™ survey and benchmarking study, in partnership with CHIME and sponsored by VMware, is a leading industry barometer measuring information technology (IT) use and adoption among hospitals nationwide. The survey of more than 741 participants, representing more than 2,213 hospitals, examined how organizations are leveraging IT to improve performance for value-based healthcare in the areas of infrastructure, business and administrative management, quality and safety, and clinical integration.
Over the past several years, Lakeland Health has earned international recognition for improving patient care through an electronic health record. Most recently, Lakeland was selected as a recipient of the Enterprise Davies Award from the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), an honor that recognizes an organization’s deliberate and effective efforts to use health information technology to substantially improve patient outcomes, while realizing a return on the sizeable investment in implementing that technology. The Davies Award is given to three or fewer health systems each year, and had never previously been awarded to an organization in Michigan.
“Being included on the Most Wired list is another indication that we met the goals we set when Lakeland began our journey toward an electronic health record four years ago—improving healthcare, saving lives, and lowering costs for our community,” said Loren B. Hamel, MD, president and CEO, Lakeland Health. “We’re honored to be recognized for our efforts, and grateful to all the team members who made an electronic health record possible.”
“We commend and congratulate this year’s Most Wired hospitals and their CIOs for improving care delivery and outcomes in our nation’s hospitals through their creative and revolutionary uses of technology,” said CHIME CEO and President Russell P. Branzell. “These Most Wired organizations represent excellence in IT leadership on the frontlines of healthcare transformation.”
HealthCare’s Most Wired™ Survey, conducted between January 15 and March 15, 2015, is published annually by Health & Hospitals Network. For detailed survey results and a full list of winners, visit www.hhnmag.com
