Dental clinic offering mouth guards

The Van Buren/Cass District Health Department community dental clinics are offering custom mouth guards for area student athletes.
The department is hosting a clinic for area students from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, at the Mattawan Community Dental Clinic. Each mouth guard costs $25.
Students can choose a custom color, representing their school or team colors. Custom impressions will be taken by the clinic’s dedicated and experienced staff to ensure a better fit and safety for the athlete.
The best mouth guard remains one that is custom designed and made by a dental professional with the athlete’s individual needs taken into account. Custom mouth guards are made from exact and precise models of an individual’s own teeth. Custom mouth guards are made of resilient and tear-resistant materials ensuring a proper fit that is comfortable, easy to clean, and will not restrict breathing.
“We are excited to extend the expertise of our dental staff to these student athletes,” said Jeff Elliot, health officer/administrator for the health department. “We strive to make safety a priority and a positive experience in the communities we serve. Our hope is that area students will enjoy a custom mouth guard that they will wear consistently and parents will find affordable.”
Appointments are required and can be made by calling (269) 668-6715.
