Robert “Bob” Strieter, age 90, passed away at The Timbers of Cass County, Dowagiac, Michigan on Sunday, June 28, 2015.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Sister Lakes Community Church, 67119 M-152, Dowagiac.
Pastor Scott Stambaugh will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to your local Wounded Warrior Project or to Sister Lakes Community Church. You may leave a memory or condolence for the family online at www.clarkch.com.
Bob was born Oct. 22, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois, to Theodore and Edna (Boenicke) Strieter. Bob graduated from Concordia High School, River Forest, Illinois and attended Roosevelt University, Chicago, Illinois.
He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force from September 1943 to March 1946. Bob married Esther Leimer on November 26, 1947 at St John’s Mayfair Lutheran Church, Chicago.
He worked for Chevrolet at Hennebry and Jim Link for over 35 years.
Friends, colleagues and family knew Bob to be an honorable man, a proud husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a phenomenal memory and is renowned for his endless stories of Chicago’s “olden days,” along with the “historical changes” at Magician Lake and the Sister Lakes area. Bob was a man of deep faith and committed to his Lord Jesus.
Bob is survived by his wife Esther; three children: Pamela (Tony) Rinella, Boise, Idaho; Rob (Diane) Strieter, Yorkville, Illinois; Philip (Sandy) Strieter, Lake In the Hills, Illinois; seven grandchildren: Daisy, Jesse, Nicole, Danielle, Albree, Nathan, Janel; seven great-grandchildren: Hazel, Zander, Ezekiel, Taitym, Colson, Winni-Esther, Noah.
