Leland “Lee” Hagedorn, 84, of Niles, passed away at Memorial Hospital in South Bend on Wednesday, June 3, 2015.
Lee was born on March 22, 1931, to the late Chalmer and Mabel (Freel) Hagedorn. After school he worked to help support his family and then joined the United States Army. On June 7, 1952, Lee wed the love of his life, Miriam Kennedy at a ceremony in Mishawaka. Lee enjoyed ensuring others were taken care of by helping snow plow his friends and families driveways and sidewalks. For many years Lee owned a blade sharpening business that he ran out of the family home. This business led Lee and Miriam to many wonderful friendships. He also enjoyed music, playing his guitar, and watching classic westerns.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chalmer Hagedorn and Mabel Hagedorn-Merrill; brothers, Matt, Roland and Garland Hagedorn; and sisters Leona Daniels and June Konopinski.
Lee is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Miriam Hagedorn of Niles; daughters Miriam (Ron) Feister of Muskegon, Michigan, Luetta (John) Ontiveros of Dublin, Ohio and Rebecca (Barth) Moore of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Jeremy Feister, Brad (Kelly) Feister, Matt Ontiveros, Leigh (Tyler) Mumford, Jason Moore, Justin Moore and Kathryn Moore; great grandson, Paul Lee Feister; and sisters, Darlene (Jack) Mell of New Carlisle, Indiana, Dollis McNeil of Buchanan, Michigan and Donna Pettie of Buchanan, Michigan.
