Ruth H. Watson, 91,of Niles, Michigan died at 10:51 a.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Lakeland Hospital – Niles following an illness.
She was born on Feb. 18, 1924, in Niles to William and Ruth (Christman) Zerr and has lived in Niles all of her life. She was as a nurse at the former Pawating Hospital (now Lakeland), and in the medical offices of the late physicians Dr. Camp, Dr. Lindenfeld, and Dr. Kilic. She attended Saint Mary Catholic Church.
On Dec. 31, 1944, in Niles she married Warren C. Watson with whom she celebrated the Forty-seventh anniversary of their wedding prior to his death on April 19, 1992. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Abigail C. “Abby” Watson on March 27, 2011; and Ruth’s sister, Zeta B. Clark on September 8, 2010.
Surviving family includes her children, Susan (Larry) DeGraff, Bill (Sherrie) Watson, Steve (Debbie) Watson, Tom Watson, Nick Watson, and Warren (Darlene) Watson, all of Niles; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Richard Wozniak of Niles.
The funeral for Ruth Watson will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at the Halbritter Funeral Home with Deacon Roger Gregorski of Saint Mary Catholic Church officiating. Committal will follow at Mission Hills.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Ruth may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.
