OTSEGO — Edwardsburg softball captured the Wolverine Conference championship by defeating Otsego, South Haven and Paw Paw Saturday.

The Eddies defeated the host Bulldogs 5-1 in the opening game before blowing out South Haven (13-0) and Paw Paw (14-3) in the semifinals and championship game. Both games lasted just five innings.

Delaney Peters and Hannah Shoupe combined on a six-hitter against Otsego with five strikeouts and no walks.

The Eddies pounded out 10 hits in the contest, including a 3-for-4 performance with a triple by Shoupe. Kaylee Ryker and Rachel Borden both finished with two hits.

In the semifinals, Ali Strycker and Shoupe teamed up for a one-hitter with three strikeouts and no walks.

Offensively, the Eddies had a dozen hits, including a 3-for-4 performance by Kailee Claire with a triple. Savannah Dixon, McKenzie Creed and Michaela Ritschard all had two hits. Dixon and Creed both doubled for the Eddies. Creed drove in four runs.

Strycker and Shoupe teamed up again in the title game to scatter seven hits.

Edwardsburg (27-4) finished with 13 more hits in the title game.

Claire, Shoupe. Ritschard and Boren all had two hits.

Shoupe doubled, tripled and drove in four runs, while Claire had a pair of doubles. Layne Stinnett doubled and drove in a pair of runs for the Eddies.
