EAST LANSING — The Big Ten Conference and TV networks have announced that two more Michigan State football games will be played in primetime during the 2015 season.
Michigan State’s home opener on Saturday, Sept. 12 against Oregon in Spartan Stadium will begin at 8 p.m. It will mark the fifth consecutive season the Spartans’ home opener will be played under the lights.
Michigan State also opened at home in primetime against Oregon on Sept. 2, 1999, and came away with a 27-20 victory over the Ducks. The reigning Pac-12 Champions lead the overall series against the Spartans, 3-2, including a 46-27 win last season in Eugene. Michigan State has a 16-game winning streak in home openers, dating back to the 1999 win over Oregon.
The Spartans will also play under the lights at Nebraska on Saturday, Nov. 7. Kickoff will be at either 7 or 8 p.m. from Memorial Stadium (specific time to be announced at a later date). Although the Huskers lead the all-time series against MSU, 7-2, the Spartans have won the last two meetings, including their first-ever win in Lincoln on Nov. 16, 2013, 41-28. Michigan State defeated Nebraska last season, 27-22, in Spartan Stadium.
Both the Oregon and Nebraska games will be televised on either ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.
The Big Ten previously announced that MSU’s game at Rutgers on Oct. 10 will be in primetime (kickoff TBA) on BTN.
