Cassopolis woman’s death caused by hypothermia

According to Cassopolis Chief of Police, Frank Williams, Jr., at 8:40 a.m. his department received a call from Central Dispatch that a person had discovered a female laying in the snow bank, non-responsive, on West State Street near the St. Paul Lutheran Church in the Village of Cassopolis.
Further investigation revealed that the female was Virginia Anderson, 81, of South Broadway Street, Village of Cassopolis. It was determined by the investigation and the Cass County Medical Examiner that the victim had died from hypothermia.
The investigation has been ruled as a natural death according to the Cassopolis Police Department.
