Goodson scores 13 in IUSB loss

BOURBONNAIS, Illinois — The Indiana University South Bend women’s basketball team could not slow the fast-paced offense of the Olivet Nazarene Tigers as they fell 115-77 on Monday evening.
The Tigers forced IU South Bend into 37 turnovers, which resulted in 47 points for ONU.
Four Titans registered double figures led by Maegan Callaway (SR/Mooresville, Ind.) with 14 points. Freshman Tatyanna Goodson (FR/Niles, Mich.) recorded 13 points in just 17 minutes of action. Courtney Smith (FR/Fort Wayne, Ind.) added 11 points while Jackie Stalder (JR/Kenton, Ohio) tied her season-high with 10 points.
Olivet Nazarene, the nation’s top scoring offense at 110 points per game, scored early and often in the first half of action as they sprinted out to a nine-point advantage with 14:05 to play in the half. However, the Titans kept pace with the Tigers and cut the ONU lead to just one point with a 12-2 run, capped off by a four consecutive points from Goodson to give IU South Bend their first lead of the game.
Leading 49-41 with just over two minutes to go in the half, the Tigers closed out the half with a game-changing 18-3 run to boost their lead to 67-44 after 20 minutes of action.
The Olivet Nazarene offense did not let up in the second half as they immediately built their lead and put the game out of reach for the Titans. The Tigers led by as many as 42 points in the second half.
The Titans will have one day off before welcoming Roosevelt University to the Student Activities Center on Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
