KALAMAZOO — The Brandywine basketball team got off to a great start as the Bobcats defeated Class A Kalamazoo Loy Norrix 53-46 Tuesday night.

The Bobcats (1-0) outscored the Knights (0-1) 41-20 through the first three quarters of the contest.

Loy Norrix rallied in the fourth quarter, but were unable to make up the early deficit.

Emily Erwin led Brandywine with 20 points, while Jaleesa Garner added 17.

The Knight’s Aviance Alexander led all scorers with 23 points.

The Bobcats open up the home portion of their schedule with BCS Athletic Conference opponent Bridgman at 7:30 p.m. Friday night.
