Bridgman, Mendon win BCS jamboree

ST. JOSEPH — Bridgman and Mendon won the inaugural boys and girls BCS Athletic Conference cross country jamboree held at Riverview Park Tuesday.
Bridgman easily defeated runner-up Mendon 25-76 in the boy’s race. Buchanan finished seventh, Brandywine eighth and Cassopolis 10th.
Brian Njuguna of Bridgman was the overall winner with a time of 17:20.5.
James Harrell of Brandywine finished fourth with a time of 17:49.9.
Mendon scored 64 points to win the girl’s race, while Bridgman was second with 82 points.
Buchanan was sixth, Cassopolis eighth and Brandywine 10th.
Mary Leighton of Mendon was the individual winner with a time of 21:42.3.
Buchanan’s Brooke Wesner finished fifth with a time of 23:25.0.
