Cassopolis’ Hartline MIAA Player of the Week

FREELAND — The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Adrian wide receiver Nathan Hartline, Adrian defensive end Jack Carter and Albion placekicker Cody Lehman its Players of the Week in football for games played through Sept. 7.
Offensive Player of the Week
Hartline, a senior from Cassopolis, set an Adrian single-game record with five touchdown catches in the Bulldogs’ 35-13 season-opening win over Defiance, Ohio. Each of Hartline’s five catches resulted in a touchdown, totaling 161 yards.
He caught touchdown passes of 15, 80 and 56 yards in the first half and added scoring receptions of three and seven yards in the second half.
Hartline is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Carter, a senior from Paulding, Ohio (Paulding HS), led an Adrian defense that held Defiance to 27 rushing yards and 155 yards total offense in the Bulldogs’ 35-13 victory.
He had 10 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss and two of the Bulldogs’ nine quarterback sacks.
Carter is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Lehman, a senior from Clawson (Clawson HS), kicked a 23-yard field goal and converted all four of his extra points in the Britons’ 42-31 loss to Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
He is being honored as Player of the Week for the third time in his career.
