Wrestlers begin dual season Wednesday

Wrestling season got started Saturday with most of our area teams in action.
Wednesday night, the teams open up the dual meet portion of their schedules.
All of the area teams will be on the road for the first Wednesday night of the season.
The Niles wrestling team, which finished third at the Southwest Classic in Allegan Saturday, will travel to Grand Rapids Catholic Central’s Battle of the Divisions event. Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
In Allegan on Saturday, Darek Bullock-Mills and Wyatt Thornton both finished second for the Vikings. Four wrestlers placed fourth — Josh Dayhuff, Noah Hall, Kale Pollard and Alex Bata.
Brandywine/at River Valley
The Bobcats went 2-3 at the Vicksburg Invitational Saturday.
Brandywine defeated Dowagiac and Coloma, but was defeated by Three Rivers, Vicksburg and Berrien Springs.
The Bobcats head to Three Oaks compete in a quad along with the host Mustangs, River Valley and New Buffalo.
Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
Dowagiac at Otsego
The Chieftains, who were 1-4 at Vicksburg on Saturday, head to Otsego for a couple non-league matches..
Dowagiac defeated Hopkins on Saturday, but was defeated by Brandwine, Lakewood, Delton and Schoolcraft, which was the tournament champion.
A pair of Dowagiac wrestlers went undefeated on the day — Shawn Sirk and Tristan Howard.
Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 5:30 at Otsego. Also compete beside the Chieftains and Bulldogs are Wayland , Hastings and Sturgis.
